     From Birkbeck College, University of London, this site offers links to electronic journals and other webs on related topics.

Iowa State University Program in TESL and Applied Linguistics
     In addition to information about programs and research at Iowa State, this site offers many links for those interested in TESOL and language instruction in general.

Journal of Pidgin and Creole Languages
     In addition to an online version of the Journal, this is a source of information on pidgins and creoles in global scope.

Linguistic Society of America
     Most information at this site is related to the Society. Recent Statements and Resolutions include texts on Language Rights and Ebonics.  Also included is the LSA style sheet.

Linguistics Links
     A special feature of this site is the link to history of the English language and other sites on historical linguistics.  The site is maintained by the Linguistics Department of the University of Illinois.

Linguistics Links on the Internet
     The Department of Applied Linguistics, Portland State University, offers an annotated list of web sites devoted to linguistics and language instruction.

Resources linguistiques
     This personal web page is international in scope and offers links to the various subdisciplines of linguistics.  Although the web page is in French, links are not limited to French.

Summer Institute of Linguistics
     News of upcoming institutes is available at this site as well as useful tools for linguistics and language instruction such as non-Roman alphabets and IPA fonts. Shareware versions can be downloaded and installed on your own PC.

DICTIONARIES:
ARTFL Project (Project for American and French Research on the Treasury of the French Language, University of Chicago
    This often cited data base of the French language contains essential information for those interested in lexicography or history of French.  Several of the links are accessible by subscription only.

Dictionnaire de l'Académie Française (Base Échantillon, 1694-1935)
     This dictionary is searchable by word and offers a sophisticated choice of special parameters for your query.

Thresor de la langue française (1606)
     The Thresor is an invaluable aid for students of older French literature or history of the French language.
 

FRENCH LANGUAGE AND DIALECTOLOGY:

Centre international de la langue française
    The "Banque des mots" at this site is a well-developed reference tool for terminology in specialized disciplines.

Chronique de la langue française (Centre international d'études pédagogiques)
     Here you will find discussions on recent developments in the French language, neologisms, technical language, plus a review of common errors -- orthographic and syntactical -- made by native speakers.  There are also some online exercises.

French-Canadian Language
    General and scholarly information on French in Canada is accessible through links to other sites; are included are the more contemporary aspects of French-Canadian, including glossaries of slang.

Le picard sur Internet
     This site includes audiofiles in addition to texts in Picard.

Section de Linguistique (à l'Université de Lausanne)
     A complete course in phonetics is offered at this site as well as information on other areas of linguistics including computational linguistics.

Servici de la lenga occitana
     This trilingual site (Occitan, French, English) provides historical information on the history of the Occitan language as well as links to other sites of interest.

Communauté Française de Belgique:  Langue française et Francophonie
    This site from Belgium offers links to many different language-related topics:  the politics of  language, new terminology (such as Internet-related) in French, the correct use of feminine forms of professions, and others.

Téléinformations linguistiques
     This site from Québec contains a collection of common errors in French composition, including Anglicism, with suggestions for correction or revision.

DICTIONARIES:
Diccionario Anaya de la lengua
    This is a searchable dictionary of modern Spanish with 30,000+ entries.

Real Academia Española
    Multiple reference tools are found at this site including the current Diccionario de la Real Academia, an historical dictionary, an orthographic dictionary, a school dictionary and a grammar.  A comprehensive collection of data relating to the Spanish language is also being developed at this site.
 

SPANISH LANGUAGE AND DIALECTOLOGY
Información del Instituto Cervantes
     The Instituto Cervantes offers information for serious scholars and researchers, teachers of Spanish as a second language, and students of Spanish.

Página de la lengua castellana
     Summary information on the recent congress on the Spanish language, held in Mexico, is available at this site as well as links to other items relating to contemporary usage.

La supervivencia de la lengua andaluza
     This site is concerned with the dissemination of the Andalusian Spanish and its survival in the age of mass media and linguistic assimilation.

CATALAN
Catalan (University of California at Berkeley)
     All aspects of Catalan are treated at this site prepared for students of Catalan at UC/Berkeley.  There are also links to many on-line early texts in Catalan.
