This page will contain links to papers written by students in my classes to serve
as models for other students. Although exemplary for their purpose, these papers should
not be used as a scholarly resource. Any use of these papers requires proper citation.
Milton's Portrayal of Eve by
Heather Gerken, from ENL 3230 (Spring 2004). This paper provides a close reading
of Milton's depiction of Eve as submissive and inferior in Book IV, lines 440-504.
The Necessary Evil by Lindsey Kofoed, from ENL 3230 (Spring
2004). This paper provides a close reading of Pope's “Rape of the Lock” at the
end of Canto I, lines 121-148, commonly seen as the "arming of Belinda."
"The Migrant's Labor" by Susan Reynolds, from ENL 3230
(Spring 2004). This poem in couplets is a modern imitation of Stephen Duck's
"The Thresher's Labour."
