Student Favorites: Students give names of favorite authors and/or favorite books by way of introductions to each other.
Introductory Essay: “Why do WE read?’ / “Why do YOU read?”
Fishbowl Discussion: Inner circle of students discusses while Outer circle observes. Rotate occasionally.
Lecture
Building Paper: several short papers that combine to make one large paper at the end of the term.
Model Papers: Provide students with papers modeling the kinds of writing required of them.
Group Dramatic Reading: Groups read a selection of the text out loud.
Fiction
Nonfiction
Poetry
Close Exposition of Text: Students read one or two lines, provide precise summary, technical features, & interpretation.
