The
Shaw Society of England
Founded in
1941 to promote interest in the life and works of G Bernard Shaw. Meetings are held on the last Friday of every month
(except July, August and December) at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London
WC1 (6.30 pm coffee for 7pm
start) at which speakers are invited to talk on some aspect of Shaw's life or
works. Members pay £1, visitors £2 (or £3 for designated meetings).
Monthly playreadings are held on the first Friday of
each month (except August). A 'Birthday Tribute' is held at Shaw's Corner, Ayot St Lawrence in Hertfordshire on the weekend
nearest to Shaw's Birthday (26th July). Publishes a quarterly
newsletter and a magazine, The Shavian, which appears
approximately every nine months. Subscription fees to join the Shaw
Society are £15 for individuals, £22 for family memberships, the same for overseas members who
pay in sterling, otherwise US $30 or equivalent. Please
