PERMISSIONS
While Shaw’s plays and
other works are in the public domain in Canada, elsewhere one needs to
apply for permission to publish or produce them (or some or most of them,
depending on what country or countries you seek rights in). In the U.S.A.,
Samuel French, Inc. should be applied to for play productions, and in the U.K. the
Society of Authors controls the Shaw Estate (click on “Shaw Estate” link in the
menu). Even so, certain editions of the
earlier plays may be in public domain in those countries as well.
