One of the primary challenges in Automotive design is the issue of aerodynamics. Since the dawn of the first automobiles, the matter of making cars faster and more fuel efficient has always been a constant race forward. Automotive aerodynamics is the study of a vehicle’s interaction with the surrounding atmosphere and experimenting with ways to decrease drag, unnecessary wind noise and even preventing lift in higher speeds, especially in high performance sports cars and race cars. The improvements that are trying to be made are to see if using more active aerodynamic systems in high performance vehicles and upcoming Hybrid/Electric vehicles will improve their handling as well as efficiency while traveling.
