Finding the Equation for Bacteria in Rainwater of an Unusually Shaped Pool

by Delaney Wetter

Submitted : Spring 2022

This project will be used to find contamination from rainwater drain runoff in a pool in south Florida. This research will find an equation which can be used to understand how much bacteria is found in a swimming pool per day from rainwater runoff. The equation used will be modeled by the differential equation rate in minus the rate out. The equation found will be used to plot a linear differential equation and solved by integration. The equation will identify approximately the number of bacteria x(t) in the swimming pool after a certain amount of time in days passed (t). The equation will help the owners of the swimming pool identify how often the swimming pool should be cleaned in order for it to be safe to swim in.
