Calculating Required Speed and Bearing of a Plane

by Fedor Kudinov

Submitted : Spring 2021

The project calculates the bearing and speed a plane should take based on wind speed and the planes current air speed and angle. This is done through the use of vectors since we can make an easy illustration of the situation and use this form of calculus to find magnitude and direction. The work allows for air traffic control to suggest correct adjustments to pilots so they can fly their commercial airplanes on schedule to their needed destinations. The paper shows such calculations can be applied to a real scenario.
