Analyzing Piney Point's Wastewater Discharge Rate

by Josephina Reyman

Submitted : Spring 2021

In order to find the cubic feet of water dumped into Tampa Bay per hour from the Piney Point reservoir, implicit differentiation was used in this project. To get to moles from cubic feet, a series of conversions was done while Le Chatelier’s principle explains how an increase in hydrogen phosphate in Tampa Bay is going to affect algae growth. By the end of the project, the rate of moles of hydrogen phosphate is analyzed as well as the consequences that come with dumping copious amounts of fertilizer water into an aquatic environment.
