Determination of the max range of a jet plane, taking fuel consumption over time into account

The purpose of the project was to calculate the maximum range of a Boeing 787 jet plane with a full load of passengers, fuel, and cargo. This presents a challenge that calculus can be applied to because there are variables that change through the course of the flight since the plane is burning thousands of pounds in fuel. After the fuel has been burned, the plane is lighter, so it takes less fuel to propel it. Thus, the efficiency of the plane increases as the flight goes on.
