The goal of this project is to determine the relationship between manatee deaths due to human causes and the policies and efforts that went into their protection. In this project, numbers of Manatee deaths related to ‘Human; other” and ‘Watercraft’ from 1990-2020 were gathered and put into an excel spreadsheet. An equation that represents the data set was used to determine the instantaneous rate of change at key points on the graph. There were 3 trends associated with each decade expressed by the instantaneous rate of change in 1993, 2004 and 2014. In 2004, the manatee deaths decreased, while in 1993 and 2014 there was an increase.
