The Dangers of Lift on Parked Planes: General Aviation Airport Safety

by Robert Malloy

Submitted : Fall 2020

Planes are damaged in strong wind events like storms even if they are secured properly. This project aims to look at the limitations of putting Cessna 172s – one of the prominent planes used in general aviation – on ramp spaces. This also includes looking at the limitations of ropes used to secure the planes as seen on figures in the actual project. By looking at this, damages to planes may be minimized during harsh weather events, and also looking at other measures to keep them safe from human error.
