Using Integral Calculus to Solve the Catenary of a Designed Suspension Bridge in Lumber City, GA

by Julian Munoz

Submitted : Spring 2020

The paper shows a project done in which a Calculus 2 student, the author, conducts a project in which he takes an existing beam bridge and designs a suspension bridge at a basic level in order to use integral calculus to solve for the length of the main suspension chord in feet. A value was found and checked through AutoCAD. The calculated value of shows a base value when designing the suspension bridge before environment and budget is brought into account.
