Logarithmic Spiral Roller Coaster

by Walker Hall

Submitted : Fall 2019

This project is to model the physics of a roller coaster that goes downhill and turns simultaneously to form a logarithmic spiral. Using only the dimensions of the roller coaster and some basic properties of the roller coaster car, you can determine the velocity at any given point of the roller coaster, the time it takes for the coaster to reach the bottom of the track, and the energy of the car and show how it dissipates through friction as it travels down the track.
