Investigation of the Effect of Drag

Submitted : Fall 2019

This paper researches how to calculate the drag of an object depending on the size and speed (high or low) of said object along with the type of fluid it is moving through. All objects that move through a fluid experience drag. A common form of drag experienced on earth is air resistance. When you calculate drag for an object, depending on the size and velocity of the object, two different equations can be used to more accurately model the travel of an object through a fluid. In this paper, the calculation of an object’s position, velocity, and acceleration, while it is moving through fluid and experiencing drag, along with the terminal velocity of an object in free fall, is derived.
