Flood Frequency of the Mississippi River in Minnesota

by Madison Jender

Submitted : Fall 2019

This project encompasses the creation of a flood frequency curve of the Mississippi River near the city of Bemidji in Minnesota. In order to construct a flood frequency curve, streamflow data was used from The United States Geological Survey (USGS). The Weibull equation was used to find the recurrence interval in order to create a graph to predict the magnitude of a 200 and 500 year flood. Thomas Juster (Hydrogeology) was the subject area advisor of the project.
